Flügel-Seenadel

The ornate pipefish has numerous leaf-like flaps. These flaps can look like small branches or pieces of algae. They are very well camouflaged. I saw this ornate pipefish only because it moved.
Ornate pipefishes feed on small crustaceans. With their tubelike mouth they create a vacuum that draws their prey into the mouth.

Die Flügel-Seenadel (oder Schnurrbart-Seenadel) hat blattartige Anhängsel auf dem Rücken und sieht aus, wie ein Stück Algen. Sie sind dadurch sehr gut getarn, eigentlich kann man sie nur sehen, wenn sie sich bewegen.
Flügel-Seenadeln fressen kleine Krebschen und Garnelen, die sie mit ihrem Röhrenmaul aufsaugen.
