Diving in Sangat

How to get to Sangat Island, Coron Bay, Busuanga, North Palawan

The Philippines

To get there fly from Manila with a small airplane company (Seair, Air Ads, Pacific airways) to Coron on Busuanga island. The airport lies about one hour drive from Coron over a bad road. A small bus is waiting until all the airplanes reach Busuanga, then it leaves with the passenger, that don't go to one of the big resorts. Some dive resorts in Coron and Sangat will fetch you at the airport.

Busuanga lies north of Palawan and belongs to the Calamian group. It can also be reached by ferry from Manila (no details available to me).

Coron is a small city. If you have booked with the resort from Sangat island (or Tangat island), they will bring you by banca (small boat ) to Sangat island. This boat trip through the islands takes about one hour.

Sorry - but there are so many that I have decided not to list them anymore, it has become too much hassle to update all the information

Diving in Palawan

How to get to Palawan and to the Tubbataha Reef

small map Tubbataha reef and Apo reef

To get to Palawan the best way is from Manila to Puerto Princesa (daily flights) and then on with a smaller plane. Or fly from Manila with a small plane through Coron on to El Nido and Puerto Princesa.

The Tubbataha islands (Tubbataha north and south, Bastreira reef, Jessie Beazley reef) lie in the Sulu Sea east of Palawan and are only accessible by liveaboard vessel from Puerto Princesa. There is a 70 minute flight from Manila to Puerto Princesa City. From the airport, have the dive operator arrange your transport to the dive boat or the resort. You need at least 9 or 10 hours by boat to get to the reefs from Puerto Princesa.
